In this release: new iCloud Sync and Apple Watch app!
The biggest change you'll notice is that we have changed the way Sync works: now you don't need to use email or some weird login system - it's all built directly into iCloud, so all you have to do is flip the switch beside 'iCloud Sync' and all of your saved stations, locations and trips will automatically sync across all of your devices. Better yet, when you replace or upgrade your iPhone, you can relax knowing that all of your settings will automatically sync to your new device.
We've also updated our Apple Watch app to deliver a smoother experience. This is the first stage: it shows you all of the departure times near you. Next up we're working on a way to sync your saved lines and stations so they appear at the top of the list - coming soon!
And finally of course, LOTS of tweaks and bug-fixes throughout the app.

An exciting release this month: fresh new design, great new features and improved VoiceOver support.
• The app has been completely redesigned to make it easier to find what you’re looking for.
• Added over twenty location icons for you to use with your saved locations.
• Bus Stop Compass: when you’re on a journey, the app will show a handy compass when you’re close to the next stop on your trip – great for finding the right stop on the right side of the street.
• Recent trips are now automatically recalculated from your current location – great if you use the same routes every day
• Massive VoiceOver improvements: we’ve designed a unique user interface specifically for VoiceOver which makes it easy to flick and find what you’re looking for, with a built-in bus stop compass and next stop announcements.
A big thanks to everyone who helped us test this release – it’s been months in the making! But we’re not finished yet. We have a whole boatload of great new features coming out over the course of 2021 – all designed to make your journey easier!

In this release, we've tweaked departure boards so they're 'sticky' - when a bus or train arrives at your station, it won't disappear from the board, but will stay there for as long as the board is open. This way, you can track it's location even after it's left the station.
Also, the app now fully supports larger text sizes, and we've fixed a number of bugs throughout the app, including an issue where searching lines wouldn't work correctly, and vehicle update times now display the exact number of seconds.
Finally, this will be the last release to support iOS 13.

SEARCH YOUR CONTACTS
Now there's a new item in the search bar - Choose from Contacts. Tap on this and choose one of your contacts in your address book. If they have an address included in the contact details, we'll tell you how to get there. Of course, you can also add their address as a saved location.
LIVE TIMES IN DIRECTIONS AND ROUTES
Now when you search for directions, we'll show you the next train or bus on your trip straight away, without having to tap on a trip to see step-by-step instructions. The same goes for route maps - if you're near a stop, we'll show the next arrival times at that stop.
Also in this release:
• You can now type in coordinates (latitude and longitude) into the search bar. It's probably not useful to that many people, but it's really useful to us when testing!
• Sync will wait until you have a decent cellular signal or on Wi-Fi before syncing, to save precious mobile data.

We could have just stuck with 'front', 'middle' and 'back' but we wanted to do this right: where available, we'll show you exactly which train carriage to get on for the quickest exit.

IMPROVED EXPLORE TAB
We've made some small tweaks to the Explore tab, which now gives you live walking times and directions to your nearest stops and stations.

LIVE WALKING DIRECTIONS
When you tap on a walking step in a trip itinerary, we’ll update the map as you move, so if you decide to take an alternative route to your destination, the walking directions will recalculate automatically.

In this release: sync your favourites and settings across all of your devices. Just sign in using your email address, Sign in with Apple or your social media account and we'll make sure all of your saved stops, places and trips are synchronised. You can sign up from the Settings screen.
A quick note about privacy: we've made sure this service is as private as possible. We don't store your name, email address or social media login. Instead, our database stores a unique Sync ID that identifies you, but isn't related to your login details. Also, we use the industry-standard OAuth2 protocol to log in to your social media account (if that's the option you choose) rather than add the social media company's own code to our app. Finally, we use a 'passwordless' email system, so if you choose to use your email address to log in, we send you an email to log in, and your email address isn't stored on our database.

The destination only tells you where it ends – which isn’t much good if you want to know which buses or trains go past your destination. We’ve made this a lot easier – you’ll find a new search bar on every departure board. Just type in what you’re looking for (like 'Holloway Road' or 'Clapham') and we’ll show you which lines go there. It works for the Lines tab as well.
SIRI SHORTCUTS
You can now add departure boards, live tracking and route maps to Siri Shortcuts.
DELAYS
We’ll let you know if your bus or train is delayed and by how many minutes.
SHARE STOPS & LINES

You voted, we listened: introducing Line Status Alerts!
You'll find a couple of new options in the Settings tab (we changed it to Settings because... well, that's really what its used for now), where you'll find Line Status Alerts. Switch it to Commute Only (for alerts between 7AM-9AM and 5PM-7PM on weekdays) or Always, and we'll send you alerts when your favorite lines are having issues. Don't know how to save lines? It's easy, just open a route map and tap on the star icon on the top-right corner.
We've also added the first of our new Premium features - up until now, the Premium version of the app just removed ads, but we wanted to reward customers with great new features. In this release, we've added Commute Alerts and Custom App Icons, exclusively for Premium customers. If you want to go Premium, just go to the Settings tab and purchase Whiz Premium. It's a one-off purchase - no subscriptions. You'd be helping us continue development of the app, and there a lot of great new Premium features coming out this year.
COMMUTE ALERTS
Switch on Commute Alerts in the Settings tab and we'll send you a notification each weekday at 8AM and 5PM letting you know about any issues on your saved lines.
CUSTOM APP ICONS
Match the app icon to your tastes with over a dozen colors to choose from.

NEW DASHBOARD
We've updated the dashboard to make it quick and easy to see departures near you, along with buttons for your saved places.
FASTER STARTUP
We started this app back in 2013, and it's picked up a lot of cruft along the way. We took some time out to rebuild the app from scratch and leave out anything that wasn't necessary. Now, the app should open faster than it did before.
WHAT3WORDS SEARCH
If you're looking for directions to a very specific place (say, the arrivals entrance at an airport, or the ticket stall at a stadium) putting in the address can sometimes send you to a different part of the building. Well now that hassle is over - if you know the three-word address for that location from what3words we'll get you directions to that exact spot!
Finally, you can now vote for the next feature we build (or add your own to the list) - just tap on the More tab to find out more.
